Researchers are seeking to create a model for change as white churches confront racism.
With a $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., the "Churches That THRIVE for Racial Justice" project aims to shed light on racism in white dominant congregations and help churches build their commitment to racial equity. The project will examine congregational life and vitality, confront structures of racism, and foster an experience of comradery and mission among congregants.
The findings will be shared with other Christian organizations and the public to contribute to the fight against racial injustice.
